Tourism

Oct 27, 2016
Tourism remains a critical contributor to the economic well being to many of our communities and is a major driving force in the state economy as a whole.

My office works to advance tourism at both the state and local levels - Supporting targeted investment and changes in state laws, policies  and / programs as well as working with individual busineses and communities to promote year round opportunities and destination marketing.

Our region serves as a major tourist destination for the New York- Metropolitan Area offering incredible outdoor recreational opportunities, world class art performances, renowned historic sites, working farms and forests and the simple charm of our beautiful communities and more.

Most recently, Bridget and I worked with the Windham Chamber and others to help support the Windham Affair, attended the Old Stone Fort Days History Fair in Schoharie, attended the Lumberyard summer social in Catskill and joined the Town/Village of Saugerties in their annual Mumfest Celebration as well as their Horses in the Sun Show International Equine Event- All beautiful weekend events which bring tourists from miles away to take in the splendor of the Northern Catskills.

Last week, I joined a number of my colleagues and tourism professionals at a statewide tourism forum to focus on the needs of the industry as well as explore opportunities for targeted investment and promotion.
